NIT Data Services maintains the TranTrak™ tracking service developed more than a decade ago. The TranTrak™ software is currently in support of the transplant programs at St. Vincent Medical Center, Sharp Medical Center and USC.
Here's How It Works
When a patient is accepted onto the national waiting list for an organ transplant, he/she must submit to regular blood tests at his/her transplant center. These routine tests continue after transplant.
The tests help physicians and transplant coordinators monitor drug values in their patients' blood so that physicians can make necessary adjustments to anti-rejection medications.
TranTrak takes the clinical data collection a step further. TranTrak™ works in conjunction with transplant centers to collect and analyze clinical data and provide immediate and long-term support to transplant centers:
- When transplant coordinators run blood tests on their patients, they share the results with TranTrak’s database. TranTrak™ analyzes results for both pre- and post-transplant patients on a daily basis. When unusual values are found, they are reported immediately to the transplant center to help physicians and coordinators make immediate decisions. TranTrak's proactive approach helps to prevent recurrent illnesses and stave off rejection.
- TranTrak™ monitors thousands of patients from the time they are referred for transplant and throughout their lifetime. With this massive amount of data, TranTrak has the capacity to analyze factors that led to successful graft survival as well as conditions that led to poor outcomes. TranTrak’s data collection assists physicians and surgeons in making better clinical decision that lead to successful outcomes and drug regimens that have shown to extend the life of recipients.
