Hum Immunol. 68: 342-349, 2007
Studies of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection often compare values from HIV-uninfected controls, including CD4 and CD8 lymphocyte counts. Nonetheless, little is known regarding factors associated with CD4 and CD8 cell numbers in HIV uninfected individuals. To ascertain potential factors associated with differences in CD4 and CD8 cells among HIV negative women, we studied these cells in a group of 953 women, enrolled as HIV-negative comparators in the Women’s Interagency HIV Study.
