The Mendez National Institute of Transplantation (MNIT) is developing a collaboration network with many transplant and research centers. Locally, the Institute is strongly affiliated with the adult transplant program at St Vincent Medical Center and OneLegacy Organ Procurement Organization.
Genomic and gene expression studies are being carried out as part of an NIH-funded multicenter project at the Scripps Institute. MNIT also collaborates with the pediatric kidney transplant program at UCLA.
The MNIT's expertise is shared nationally by collaborations with Pittsburg (pediatric and adult heart and lung transplant programs) and with the adult kidney transplant program at Stanford University.
These provide for the two-way sharing of knowledge, expertise and results in very effective partnerships.
The MNIT consistently strives to extend its network of collaborations with other centers recognized for clinical and research excellence in an effort to expand its own knowledge and understanding of transplantation.
